A small municipality on the left bank of the Fluvià in an extensive plain.
Highlights are the Church of Santa Maria, Puig de Montpalau Castle, Santa Magdalena de Montpalau Chapel, the fortified castle-palace of Montpalau, the Church of La Mare de Déu del Guilar, Santa Anna Chapel and several centuries-old farmhouses.

This GR crosses the whole Iberian Peninsula along the southern flanks of the Pyrenees and Cantabrian mountains. It runs from Empuries in the east to Finisterre in the west, passing through the Catalan pre-Pyrenees from the Costa Brava to Aragon.
