This itinerary crosses the central area of La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, passing through places such as Moixina wetlands, La Fageda d'en Jordà, and the banks of the volcanoes Croscat and Santa Margarida.
This trail starts at Olot bus station, in Carrer del Bisbe Lorenzana. Leaving the bus station by the left exit, turn down Carrer del Fluvià until you reach the river and then follow the Ronda del Fluvià. Leave Cal Russet Bridge to the left, without crossing it, and follow the same street until you reach Les Móres Bridge. At this point, the trail forks: if you cross the bridge, you will go straight to the Triai, and from there to the Fageda d’en Jordà. However, if you continue along the same bank, you will cross the river by the Colom Bridge and, following Avinguda de la República Argentina, you will come to Plaça d'América, and after that, Parc Nou.
Leave Parc Nou by the south gate, beside the Casal dels Volcans, and walking past vegetable gardens and dry stone walls, after crossing the road, you will come to the area called La Moixina.
The path continues to the Triai, where it connects with the branch coming from Les Móres Bridge and then continues to the Fageda d’en Jordà. If you have lost your bearings or started the trail from somewhere else, there are waymarked connections where you can join the trail from the Olot-Santa Pau road at Sant Sebastià chapel or at the turn-off to Sant Cristòfol de les Fonts church.
Just before entering the Fageda d’en Jordà, the path divides. The branch on the left leads to the Can Serra Information Centre; the branch on the right crosses the wood, passes by Can Jordà, re-enters the beech wood and continues to Can Xel (house).
Cross the Olot-Santa Pau road and continue along the trail until you reach the intersection that will take you to the Àrea de Santa Margarida, the starting point for Trail 15, and which leads to the Croscat volcano clay pits. However, if you want to climb to the crater of the Santa Margarida volcano, you should follow Trail 1.
Continue round the perimeter of the Santa Margarida volcano until you come to a branch of the trail that will link you with Trail 1 via the south side of the Santa Margarida volcano. Continuing towards Santa Pau, you will pass the Clavell spring. Shortly after that, you come to the old closed clay pit at the Rocanegra volcano.
Go down through the fields towards Santa Pau and into the village. Once in the High Street (Carrer Major), an interesting feature are the engraved stone lintels of many of the 18th century houses. The route ends at the car park in the village, beside the bridge.
