This itinerary passes near a spectacular basaltic cliff, not only for its height, but also for the houses built right on its edge.
The trail starts at the Plaça de Catalunya in Castellfollit de la Roca, where there is a free public car park. Continue along Carrer Germanes Illa and Carrer Sant Josep. Cross the main road and go down the stairs to the bridge, which you cross. Once you are in front of the Mont-Roc restaurant, follow a path down toward the vegetable gardens and then a tarmacked street to the footbridge over the Fluvià River. From here, you can see the basalt cliff face. After crossing the footbridge, continue walking beside the vegetable gardens until you reach a small rebuilt Romanesque bridge. Cross the bridge and walk up along the Roman road, which will take you to the old village church. It is worth going to the viewpoint to enjoy the view. Follow Carrer Major toward the Town Hall and follow the main road at left. At 300 m.,turn right to Plaça de Catalunya.
