- The Greenways Consortium presents the new brand
The new logo of the Consortium, attached to the Girona Provincial Council, retains the name Vies Verdes and replaces the classic image of the man and the bicycle.
The Girona Greenways Consortium presented its new brand and logos yesterday morning, in the Ferran Agulló press room of the Girona Provincial Council, a change that responds to the growth and diversification of the routes managed by the Consortium, which currently cover more than 500 km of cycle paths and routes in the Girona regions. The presentation was made by the president of the Girona Provincial Council, Miquel Noguer, and the deputy and delegate president of the Consortium, Quim Roca.
The "Ecovies de Girona" brand was born after a review of the Consortium's visual identity, with the aim of reflecting the diversity of routes, and reinforces the commitment of this entity and the Girona Provincial Council to sustainability, mobility and respect for the environment.
This change responds to the evolution of the routes managed by the Consortium, which began its tasks of management, maintenance and promotion of the greenways of Girona in 2003, with the support of the Girona Provincial Council and the municipalities of the three main initial routes: the Iron and Coal Route (Ripoll - Sant Joan de les Abadesses), the Carrilet I Route (Olot - Girona) and the Carrilet II Route (Girona - Sant Feliu de Guíxols), which totaled 110 km.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that the greenway concept has, throughout Europe, very well-defined characteristics: widths, types of terrain, segregation, regular maintenance, universal accessibility... and this makes them very safe for many types of public.
Regarding the need for this review, it was explained that it had reached a point where it could be confusing for the Greenway Consortium to manage routes that did not exactly meet the characteristics required by a greenway, and that it was important that people who visit the Girona region and those who use our routes see their expectations met.
For this reason, the Consortium's logo has also been updated: the classic image of a man and a bicycle has been dispensed with, and two Vs have been incorporated, given that the name of the entity does not change.
Coinciding with the Consortium's twentieth anniversary, a process was initiated to redefine the brand structure. Under the umbrella of the new promotional brand "Ecovies de Girona" greenways, the Pirinexus route, thematic routes and local and mobility routes now coexist.
At the end of the presentation, it was highlighted that this change will involve an evolutionary process, which will involve the creation of a new website throughout 2025, promotional actions to publicize the new brand inside and outside Catalonia and the progressive change of all signage, which will require more time.
This brand reconstruction is an action included in the tourism sustainability plans in destinations, which is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan subsidized with Next Generation funds.
