Information

  • Date

Tuesday, 6 of December of 2022

  • Location

El Mallol (La Vall d'en Bas)

Remença and ethnological fair with activities, shows of trades and fair of crafts and gastronomy.

This year the Fira de Sant Nicolau arrives loaded with novelties. First of all, there will be a workshop to make an articulated puppet of the Witch Estruga Maigarda, the emblem of the town's carnival, which will be in charge of Ángel Rigall. From 10.30 a.m. and throughout the morning families will be able to go through the Plaça Major and make their own puppet, guided by the Mallol artist. Then, at 11.15 a.m. the children can enjoy the family show "Històries Nadalenques" by Cia Alma and the Mar de Contes.

Another novelty for this 2022 is that there will be a first-class concert at 5pm. This is the duo formed by Jaume Arnella and Biel Majoral, fathers of folk in Catalonia and Mallorca, respectively. The concert is part of the Folk Circuit, an initiative by the Enderrock group to spread roots music throughout the Catalan territory.

Arnella and Majoral have traveled the Catalan countries throughout their lives collecting popular songs and tunes that are part of our intangible heritage. From their accumulated experience, a unique dialogue will emerge with an exchange of anecdotes and experiences. Between the two of them, they have more than a hundred years on stage. Both will be accompanied by Delfí Mulet on guitar and Ferran Martínez on accordion.

In addition to all this, people who climb the Mallol hill on December 6 will also find the rural essence of the Sant Nicolau Fair, since as always you can enjoy the display of crafts and animals, of the artisan fair, the giant games of Kiràlia, as well as the plant remedial workshop.

As usual, there will also be a talk in the Church at 12.30 pm, this year entitled “Noble, cultured and powerful. The Viscountesses of Bas in the Middle Ages" by Miquel Àngel Fumanal, president of PEHOC.

There will also be a walk and the Estruga Maigarda Witch Dance accompanied by the Xot's del Mallol, and the participatory popular dance that takes place in the Plaza at 6.30pm with the local group of musicians: Brunzit Remença.

All together, it will end at 7.30pm with the legendary closing broth.

As always, the Fair will have the train service for people who cannot walk up or who want to enjoy it, as well as a canteen where you can have breakfast and lunch.

During Sant Nicolau's day, the associated restaurants in the Valley will have special menus for the occasion. Diners will be able to taste the most typical dishes of the area with local products and traditional cuisine.
