Baumes de Caxurma are a series of natural caves formed in the sedimentary rocks that lie to the south of the basalt cliffs of Castellfollit de la Roca. The largest cave is around 400 m in length.
This route runs from Mieres towards Collet de la Devesa and Coll de Palomera. It was used by local people to go to the annual festivities up on Serra de Finestres.
Although some structures from the 11th century do still stand, most of the surviving medieval buildings in La Garrotxa date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
This route will take us to one of the most remarkable buildings among the witnesses of Romanesque art and an exceptional pilgrimage center in the Besalú county, Sant Sepulcre de Palera.
Discover some of the nest natural viewpoints in La Garrotxa and all provide incredible panoramas.
The route takes us to the Comuns quarry, a stone extraction site that used to build the Olot motorway to Besalú. The mining activity was stopped in 2010 and is currently under restoration.
The volcanoes that erupted thousands of years ago in what today is La Garrotxa region gave rise to great lava flows that occupied the bottoms of the local river valleys.
This route runs between wheat fields, you will enjoy beautiful views. Throughout the route you will be accompanied by Alta Garrotxa as a backdrop. Recommended for the whole family.
