Keeping cool in La Garrotxa
The intense summer heat is an incentive to search for places to cool off, places where you can rest and at the same time get to know some of the other delights of La Garrotxa.

GR 2 - La Jonquera to Aiguafreda
This GR runs from La Jonquera to Aiguafreda through medieval towns and villages such as Besalú and Santa Pau, and natural protected areas including La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone and Montseny natural parks, and the Collsacabra, Savassona and Tavertet Cliffs.

The Carrilet cycle lane
The Carrilet is for walkers and cyclists only and follows the route of the narrow gauge railway that once linked Olot and Girona.

Saint James's way
The St James’ Way runs through the county of La Garrotxa and visits en route a number of interesting sites.

Torre de Murrià route. Route 5 Les Preses
Torre de Murrià is a Roman watchtower that was converted into a signalling tower during the Carline Wars. It is reasonably well conserved and its moat and walls can still be seen.

Xenacs via volcano Racó and puig Rodó viewpoint. Route 1 Les Preses
The recreational area of Xenacs in Les Preses provides an atypical view of La Garrotxa and is one of the best places anywhere for getting a bird’seye view of Croscat and the other volcanoes in the area. As well, its height makes it an ideal place.

Sant Miquel del Corb and Sant Martí del Corb, two of the best-kept secrets of the Romanesque heritage of La Garrotxa.

Broad flat bottomed valley of les Prese (ancient lake), Racó volcano and Pedra Tosca laves circuit.
The arrival of the Croscat volcano lava flow about 11,000 years ago, altered the landscape of this place and its effects extended not only to a wide area but quite reach our age.
