  • More than 200 participants in the third edition of the Garrotxa Volcanic Walking
Tuesday 1 of June of 2021

This weekend saw the third edition of the Garrotxa Hiking Festival, which has had 18 hiking trips in 3 days to discover the natural and cultural heritage of La Garrotxa, with the help of local guides.

The Garrotxa Volcanic Walking has offered several guided activities throughout the region at a lower price than usual. This offer of activities has been the perfect opportunity to discover a more real, authentic and unknown face from different corners of La Garrotxa. The outings were complemented by a small tasting of local products offered by the various municipalities, and the hiker's kit, a backpack and water bottle for all participants, which was very well received.

The hiking festival in La Garrotxa has offered outings and activities with a maximum of 20 people. In this 2021 edition, almost 70% of the places offered have been filled, increasing the participation of about 60 people by 2020.

The visits, scheduled at different times of the day and night, have encouraged the visitor to stay overnight, diversifying visits to the territory and, at the same time, allowing them to discover places in La Garrotxa at other times of the day on their own or through of ski passes (visit packages plus accommodation) to make your stay more profitable.

The most requested visits of this edition have been Bestioles at night, The sunset from the top of the Puigsacalm, La Fageda at night, The route of the gorges of Santa Pau, The mine of the bandoles and meditation, The caves of the 'Alta Garrotxa. and RCR Architecture, Volcanic Landscape and Star Lunch.

With this initiative Turisme Garrotxa aims to give value to guided hiking and the role of professional guides as key pieces to learn, know and discover the territory, an activity that is not so common culturally in our country.

Given the good reception that this proposal continues to have, the organization plans to organize the fourth edition, scheduled for May 2022.

This festival is part of the Pyrenees Hiking Festivals initiative (http://festivalssenderismepirineus.cat/), coordinated by IDAPA (High Pyrenees and Aran Development Institute) and with the support of the tourism brand Pyrenees, the Ara Lleida Tourism Board and the Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board.
