Tortellà is one of the gateways to the Alta Garrotxa.
The highlight of the village is Santa Maria church, an XVIII place of worship built on the primitive Romanesque temple. On the outskirts, upstream of the river Llierca and beside the road from Sadernes, is the distinctive Llierca bridge, a spectacular and impressive single-arched Romanesque bridge.
Also remarkable are La Bauma del Serrat, the prehistoric site and the river Juiàs.

La Garrotxa is a county that is associated with a great variety of art forms.
The intense summer heat is an incentive to search for places to cool off, places where you can rest and at the same time get to know some of the other delights of La Garrotxa.
Marian Vayreda’s novel La Punyalada provides one of the best ways of discovering the Alta Garrotxa. The places depicted by this 19th century author in the scenes from his famous novel have been joined in a discovery route.
The route takes us to the Comuns quarry, a stone extraction site that used to build the Olot motorway to Besalú. The mining activity was stopped in 2010 and is currently under restoration.
Although some structures from the 11th century do still stand, most of the surviving medieval buildings in La Garrotxa date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
Monasteries, medieval villages, churches and, above all, castles are today some of the most important reminders of the medieval past of La Garrotxa.
A route to discover by bike the plain located between Castellfollit de la Roca, the Llierca bridge, Sales de Llierca and Argelaguer.
