Batet de la Serra is a hamlet between Olot and Santa Pau sitting atop a basaltic plateau.
The landscape around Batet consists of a mosaic of farms and arable fields (some growing buckwheat) with an impressive backdrop of views over the whole of the eastern Pyrenees.
A good way of visiting the area is to walk from Olot along the old trail leading up to Batet, an easy walk of around three hours that is suitable for the whole family.
Some of the main points of interest in and around Batet are the church of Batet, the sanctuary of La Trinitat, Font Faja (a spring) and Croscat, the largest volcano in the area.
