The volcano of Croscat and its gredales are one of the jewels of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. This itinerary will take you inside the youngest volcano in the Iberian Peninsula.
Trail 15 starts at the Àrea de Santa Margarida car park. Use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road. Continue toward the Masnou restaurant, then turn left and go up along a path that around the side of the Croscat volcano, from where you can view the volcano's adventitious cones.
Shortly after, head down toward the Can Passavent information centre, where there is a permanent exhibition about the volcano and the area. Turn left and you come to the clay pits, which make up the Croscat Volcano Museum Space. Follow the same route in the opposite direction back to the car park.
According to Volcanic Region of La Garrotxa Natural Park regulations, organised groups must book the visit to this Museum Space in advance and must be accompanied by an official guide qualified as "Bon Coneixedor de la Garrotxa" (La Garrotxa Expert).
