The intense summer heat is an incentive to search for places to cool off, places where you can rest and at the same time get to know some of the other delights of La Garrotxa.
The route connects the Can Blanc district with the car park of the Area of Santa Margarida, passing the Area of Can Serra (Fageda d'en Jordà) and Can Xel.
Although some structures from the 11th century do still stand, most of the surviving medieval buildings in La Garrotxa date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
The arrival of the Croscat volcano lava flow about 11,000 years ago, altered the landscape of this place and its effects extended not only to a wide area but quite reach our age.
This route will take you to two of the most emblematic Romanesque chapels in the Sierra de Entreperes, in the Alta Garrotxa.
Monasteries, medieval villages, churches and, above all, castles are today some of the most important reminders of the medieval past of La Garrotxa.
This is a flat walk that will take you to the ruins of the old castle and the church of Sant Martí in the hamlet of Dosquers. Also highly recommendable by bike.
This is a demanding route as it gains height quickly over a short distance. However, it provides for wonderful views of two singular sites: the impressive waterfall of Salt del Sallent, at its best after heavy rain, and the chapel of Santa Magdalena.
