The charcoal makers route. Route 2 Mieres
This route follows some of the old paths and trails used to bring wood charcoal down from the Serra de Finestres. The path that passes by Font Ricard is an attractive mule trail that connects the hamlet of Ruïtlles to the church of El Freixe.
La Plana bathing pool. Route 3 Les Planes d'Hostoles
Les Planes d’Hostoles is well known for its natural bathing pools that have been used in numerous films and adverts. This is one of four suggestions.
Grau d'Escales route. Route 2 Montagut i Oix
Grau d'Escales is a relatively easy pass (grau = ‘pass’ and escala = ‘step’ in Catalan) between two abrupt cliffs from where there are good views of the Salt dels Lliberals (Liberal’s Leap).
Old trails, today’s landscapes
The best way to discover a territory is through its history and its landscapes by walking the old trails. We’ll follow the Annia trail, the best preserved roman road in all the Iberian Peninsula, and the medieval trails that still link villages.

A circular walk that provides spectacular views of L’Alta Garrotxa and the Pyrenees as it passes through woods of ancient oaks.
La Devesa and Caxurma caves. Route 1 Montagut i Oix
Baumes de Caxurma are a series of natural caves formed in the sedimentary rocks that lie to the south of the basalt cliffs of Castellfollit de la Roca. The largest cave is around 400 m in length.
Rosemary route. Route 2 Maià de Montcal
This bicycle route is suitable for families with children, you will discover a rural landscape between fields and manors.

This route is an agreeable stroll through the shady woods of Clot Mal, a stream that runs down from the western side of the slopes around the church of Freixe.
